O Christmas Tree!

We put up our tree yesterday! It's still tough to get ready for Christmas when the weather is a balmy 80 degrees but we managed well!

On Wednesday 11/12 Maya got the opportunity to go to a book tour and meet one of her favorite authors - Lemony Snicket!



She bought a book and had it signed by the author and I am so excited she got the chance to meet, greet and get a signed book from one of her favorites!



Her friend Ashley's mom, Lisa, took the girls and they all had a great time!

Straight A's!

Maya received straight A's for her first report card in 4th Grade!

She was invited to a special breakfast this morning at her school to celebrate her achievment!

We are so proud of her!!!

Way to go Maya!!!!!

Proud to Be American - 4th Grade Musical

The 4th Grades at Quiet Waters Elementary School put on a concert last night entitled "Proud to Be American" and they did a great job! Maya and her friends worked hard to memorize many songs about living in the United States and pride in being an American.

We were SO proud of her and they were awesome!!!!

Halloween

Maya was a cute little devil for Halloween this year! We went trick-or-treating with 2 other girls in her class - Ashley & Mariana. We were able to walk around with some other kids in the neighborhood and aside from a short bout of pouring rain, a good time was had by all!

DC Trip - Saturday 10/24

Robyn drove down with Lauren to visit us at Al & Patts and we had a lovely time hanging out and getting back in touch. Maya was very kind and patient with Lauren and Lauren was a joy to watch! She is growing up so fast! Robyn & I had great 40 year old mom talk. :)

DC Trip - Friday 10/23

Maya and I had a great trip to DC! We got in early Friday morning and had breakfast with Al & Patt. We headed into the city late afternoon and met Leigh for dinner and a Dupont Circle Ghost Tour! We ended the evening with cupcakes at "Hello Cupcake" and had a great time all around!

I have been stalking my e-mail for tickets to DC from Spirit Airlines.

They run specials every now and then with $9 fares. You have to be quick to get the fares on the dates you want and now they are charging for seat selection. Spirit isn't the best airline to fly - they change schedules sometimes at the last minute and there are few perks, but the price is right.

Traveling with Maya, I need to ensure we have seats together so I am feeling like it was worth the extra $30.

Total fare for both of us - $108

Not bad.

Presidential Debate #1

The presidential debates last night were definitely interesting. I was hoping to be inspired, however I walked away with the idea that those who support McCain will say he did great and those that support Obama will say the same about him.

4th Grade

Maya's new school this year is Quiet Waters Elementary School.
